Best Falafel Around
Consider this a two-fold public service announcement. First, for those who don’t know, Tangiers has the best Falafel in the region. Second, they are moving a couple blocks east as Walgreens plans to redevelop the site of their current store. They’ll still be on Farmington Avenue … continue to visit them once they move to their new Hartford location, and check them out if you haven’t visited them before.
Dine in the Center
The summer season is the time to dine outdoors in West Hartford Center. It’s an opportunity to see and be seen, though it looks like I was out too early to spot the any local celebrities at Bricco.
Lawn Bowling at Elizabeth Park
I am intrigued by the local lawn bowling clubs, both at Elizabeth Park and at Fernleigh. This time as I was driving past the park I saw some people out playing and stopped in to watch for a few minutes.

Spreading Mulch
I fully support having the kids help with “fun projects” like spreading mulch. But the little kiddie wheelbarrow, cart and pails are going to make the project last forever. It’s going to take a lot of kids to distribute that pile.

Antique Car
Saw this antique car glistening in the sunlight on Farmington Avenue the other day. No driver was in sight and it was parked on the side of the road like any other vehicle. I have no idea what kind of car it is, but am confident is anything but ordinary.
Eisenhower Pool Prep
West Hartford community pools appear scheduled to open this Saturday, June 21st, 2014 at 1:00. Here is the page on the Town’s website detailing all of the summer’s aquatic programs.
Kiosk Parking in Effect
Kiosk parking was in effect this morning in West Hartford Center. When you pay at the kiosk you have to enter your license plate number, so make a mental note of that. Also, the parking rates increased to $1.50 per house, so a quarter will get you 10 minutes.
