Enjoying the outdoor concerts at the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden is a summer tradition in West Hartford for young and old. Bring a picnic and some friends and you’re sure to have a good time. The concert schedule is available on the Elizabeth Park Conservancy website.

Orange Lily
Colorful gardens can be found throughout West Hartford, and lilies are a popular summer perennial. This orange flower was especially vivid, so I couldn’t walk past without taking a photo.
Highland and Farmington
Taller Downtown Hartford buildings are visible from the top of many West Hartford hills. Since nearly all of east-west streets in Town continue into the City, and many go all the way Downtown, you can get some nice skyline views walking east through West Hartford.
Stadium at Hall High
The stadium at Hall High school is ready for just about anything. This shot was from late spring and doesn’t show all the folks who were working out on the track or field.
Beckett Professional Building
I love the architectural details of this building on Prospect Avenue, especially the rounded windows on the third floor. The clock out front it also something to admire as those are usually only found in business districts.
Bumblebee
Tis the season for bees, and all the benefits they provide to the environment. This one looked especially happy flitting back and forth between purple flowers.
Library Art
The Noah Webster branch of the West Hartford Library, the one in the Center, is a fun place to wander around. They have a number of different rooms, and areas for those of all ages. I had never noticed the collection of paintings on display until the beginning of the year, when this photo was taken.
Engine Company One
Sunny and blue skies … a nice day to park the truck outside the firehouse.
Staring Contest
Saw this fox from a distance and we both took a few minutes to stare at each other. It’s surprising to see a fox, especially on the eastern side of town, but there it was…
Playhouse on Park
Interesting things happen at the Playhouse on Park … just one of many Park Road highlights.
Best Falafel Around
Consider this a two-fold public service announcement. First, for those who don’t know, Tangiers has the best Falafel in the region. Second, they are moving a couple blocks east as Walgreens plans to redevelop the site of their current store. They’ll still be on Farmington Avenue … continue to visit them once they move to their new Hartford location, and check them out if you haven’t visited them before.
Dine in the Center
The summer season is the time to dine outdoors in West Hartford Center. It’s an opportunity to see and be seen, though it looks like I was out too early to spot the any local celebrities at Bricco.
